From Leon Racing
MONTREAL, QC -- The Royal Distributing / MBP Ducati 1198S that Michael Leon will race in the 2011 RACE SuperSeries will be equipped with suspension provided by Elka Suspension. The team will continue its relationship with suspension tuner John Sharrard of Accelerated Technologies, who is also an authorized Elka distributor. Sharrard will provide trackside support and collaborate with the engineers at the Elka factory to further develop a suspension package for the Ducati.
Leon is no stranger to Elka Suspension. While racing in the Canadian Thunder National series he rode an Elka-equipped Buell to race wins, lap records and a pole position, with a best championship result of second place overall in 2007.
The goal of the project is to assist Elka Suspension in development of a rear shock for the Ducati 1198/1098/848 platform. The final product will work with a stock rear linkage for street and track day riders, yet be adaptable for use with popular aftermarket linkages for road racing applications.
Located in Boucherville, QC, Elka Suspension first made a name for itself in the ATV world and has since expanded its expertise to include suspension for street motorcycles, side by sides and mountain bikes.
Accelerated Technologies, situated in Lakefield, ON, is a leader in motorcycle and snowmobile suspension tuning. Sharrard, known for his in depth knowledge of the right setup for our often bumpy Canadian tracks can be found providing trackside support throughout the summer. He also offers complete suspension rebuild and setup service form his shop, throughout the year.
