BOWMANVILLE, ON – Jodi Christie extended his lead in the Pirelli Pro Sport Bike standings by claiming the Kawasaki S4-R Competition Lubricants Pole Award at Mosport International Raceway on Friday for this weekend’s final two races on his Jodi Christie Racing / Cameron Cycle / Blue Streak Racing Honda CBR600RR.
The Keene, ON racer turned a time of 1:24.312 to improve his point total to 241 against 214 for Uxbridge, ON’s Alex Welsh, who qualified the Z1 CycleTech / Kenwood Suzuki GSX-R600 fourth.
Splitting the two title rivals on the grid will be Belfountain, ON’s Kenny Reidman, who turned a lap of 1:24.356 on the Reidman Racing Triumph 675, and Bodhi Edie of Warman, SK, who set a 1:24.390 riding the Edie Racing / Acceleration Racing / Honda Canada Honda CBR600RR.
Christie set his time about 12 minutes through the 20-minute session after getting a late start on action.
"I didn't hear the five-minute horn so I was a little late getting out," he explained after taking his second pole of the season. "I just had to clear my head and get in some laps. We made one minimal change during the session but I didn't want to upset things."
Reidman had come out of the gate flying and laid down his best lap early in the session. Despite missing out on pole the Triumph rider claimed his best career starting spot in the Pro Sport Bike class.
Coming off a career high third place finish at Atlantic Motorsport Park two weeks ago rookie Edie continued to show excellent late season form. Two points for qualifying third moved him into a tie for third spot in the class point standings with Woodbridge, ON's Frank Trombino, who qualified fifth on the Suzuki Canada / Hindle / Sturgess Cycle Suzuki GSX-R600.
