Harley-Davidson races through winter

From Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada

CONCORD, ON – Regardless of what season of the year it is, Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada always has a racing project on the go.

As part of the 2011 racing initiatives, Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada is once again supporting Canadian Alpine Ski Racing, particularly the men’s 'Canadian Cowboys' team. In addition to a head-gear sponsorship for Manuel Osborne-Paradis, the 2011 Alpine Ski Racing project will host an online auction in conjunction with S‑Media, featuring a custom painted Harley-Davidson VRSC V-Rod Muscle motorcycle, designed by Extreme Measures and featuring the stylized and iconic logo of the Canadian Cowboys.

Following its first appearance at the Rockstar Ski Cross Grand Prix (part of the FIS Freestyle World Cup) hosted at Blue Mountain, ON, on Feb. 11, this unique motorcycle will be showcased at various private and public clubs in Collingwood, ON for the duration of the auction, from March 2 to April 1.

In addition to the displays at the ski clubs, this online auction will be promoted via S-Media’s website (www.snowsportculture.com) and its weekly e-newsletters, as well as on Ski Television, which airs on Rogers Sportsnet. All monies raised through the online auction on www.snowsportsculture.com will directly support the Canadian Cowboys team.

Darren James, racing manager for Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada has been making use of the Canadian winter months to fine tune details of the long-awaited new Harley-Davidson XR 1200 Cup series. A professional motorcycle racer and avid skier, James sees a strong affinity between the two disciplines.

“The similarities between competing in alpine skiing events and motorcycle racing are many," he said, "but mainly the state of mind, the determination, discipline and physical preparation it takes to compete in both of these sports at a professional level is what they have in common.”

As spring finally approaches, further motorcycle racing programs supported by Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada such as drag racing and dirt track racing will spring back to life.
