CSBK and MICS join forces

TORONTO, ON – Frontline CSBK Inc., Canada’s premier road racing series organizer, has announced its partnership with Lean Angle Canada, exclusive International distributor of the Medical Information Carrier System (MICS).

The MICS is a unique medical information system that provides critical lifesaving information in the event of an emergency. First introduced in the fall of 1998 for bike riders, the program has evolved to well over 1,000,000 systems being utilized worldwide.

Lean Angle Canada will supply each racer competing in the 2011 Canadian Superbike Championship with one complimentary MICS for their primary helmet. Additional MICS carriers will be available to competitors at an exclusive price, with 50 cents of each subsequent purchased unit allocated to a fund dedicated to corner marshals across Canada who provide their services to CSBK.

“CSBK organizers have raised the bar on rider safety,” stated Steve Reed, president of Lean Angle Canada. “By choosing to mandate MICS into their safety platform it speaks to the ongoing commitment the Canadian Superbike Championship is taking towards safety preparedness, emergency response and to their riders’ well-being.”

The MICS is affixed to the left rear of the motorcycle helmet. It is protected, visible and readily available. Information on the rider's identity and medical history including allergies, medications, blood type and pre-existing medical conditions will assist trained first responders to expedite the crucial triage stage of a racer’s care.

“We believe CSBK is the first national motorsport series in the world to commit and adopt the Medical Data Information Carrier (MICS) helmet system as part of an overall rider safety strategy. Hopefully we won’t be the last,” stated Kevin Graham of Frontline CSBK. “Having critical medical information so readily available gives EMS and first responders the extra edge that can save precious seconds when it truly counts.”

The 2011 Canadian Superbike Championship kicks off on May 20 with the Pirelli tire test at Calabogie Motorsports Park, which will be hosted by the Turn 2 Sportbike School. Round one will take place May 27-29 at Circuit ICAR near Montreal.
